The boxing icon, professional basketball player, politician, entrepreneur, and actor will be confered with the honorary rank of Commodore from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). This rank is equivalent to “one-star general” in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). At present, Pacquiao is a Lieutenant Colonel in the AFP’s Reserve Force.

Commodore George Ursabia, commander of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Southeastern Mindanao, will grant Pacquiao the honorary rank in his installation as part of the PCG Auxiliary (PCGA). A simple ceremony will be held as Pacquaio’s oathtaking on Wednesday, which is also his 36th birthday.

Ursabia said, ““It is an elite squadron that also includes some important people or personalities.”

According to the post from interaksyon.com, “the PCGA is involved in the assisted enforcement of maritime laws in the country, especially the promotion of maritime safety. It is also involved in maritime search and rescue missions as well as the protection of the marine environment.”
