“The OVP allotted some P5.3 million for these kits, which may be used in the process of conducting a total of 12,750 tests,” the OVP said in a statement.

The extraction kits may also be used by the following hospitals identified as subnational laboratories to assist in the surveillance of the illness:

  • Lung Center of the Philippines

  • UP-National Institutes of Health
  • Baguio General Hospital
  • Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu and

In addition to extraction kits, the OVP also headed a donation drive for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers. Said drive was able to raise about Php 20 million and is already partly being used to purchase and distribute PPE.
