The local music scene is mourning the loss of singer-songwriter Davey Langit, who passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 38.
His wife, fellow artist Therese Villarante-Langit, confirmed the news in a touching Facebook post.

In her tribute, Therese described Davey as someone who “loved life” with unshakable zest—the kind of person who would jump off 75-meter free falls, ride the scariest roller coasters, and dance without hesitation. More than anything, she said, he “loved, LOVED music and songwriting with such fire,” a passion that defined much of his life and career.
Davey first captured hearts in 2006 as a contestant on Pinoy Dream Academy season 1. Over the years, he carved his own space in OPM, writing and performing heartfelt songs such as “Wedding Song” and “Selfie Song.”
His talent as a songwriter shone especially bright when his composition “Dalawang Letra,” performed by The Itchyworms, won the Grand Prize at the 2016 Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs competition.
No official cause of death has been released, but earlier this year, Davey and Therese shared in a YouTube vlog that he had been battling a rare spinal infection since August. Despite the challenges, the couple remained hopeful and thankful for the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and fans.
“He fought fiercely ‘til the very end,” Therese wrote. “He felt so loved by you all these past few days. Thank you for filling his heart with so much gratitude, community, and hope.”
Memorial services will be held at Phoenix Memorial Chapels and Crematory Inc. in Santa Rosa, Laguna, from October 23 to 26, 2025, and at St. Peter Urdaneta from October 27 to 29, 2025.
Davey Langit will be remembered for his contributions to OPM and for the light, laughter, and music he brought to everyone who knew him.
“Thank you for being part of Davey’s life. He loved each and every one of you,” Therese said.
