Mayonnaise, the Filipino rock band behind the hit 2004 song “Jopay,” has just achieved a new accomplishment after their newest single dedicated to Blackpink member Rosé was featured on a Korean news channel!
“Park Chaeyoung feature in SBS Morning News #MayonnaiseFirstWin,” the band wrote on its official Facebook page on January 7, where they shared a clip from the South Korean show that talked about their song.
Not long after, Mayonnaise revealed to friends and fans that Rosé herself had listened to the song following the feature on the morning show and couldn’t contain her shock. “The ‘Park Chaeyoung’ song, I did see that. I think it was on the news or something. I was so surprised,” she said in an audio clip that the band posted.
“Salamat sa musika, kung saan saan tayo nakakarating (Thanks to music, we are able to reach so many places) #박채영 #ParkChaeYoung #MayonnaiseWinsForever,” the band said.
“Park Chaeyoung” is Rosé’s given name and the song is a slow ballad written and sung in Filipino which expresses admiration and devotion for someone. It begins with a short recorded audio clip of Rosé speaking in English before it goes into the song itself.
Mayonnaise premiered the track and its accompanying lyric video last December 1, 2020. It features the voices of Chino David and Julia Daniel. It is part of Mayonnaise’s new album “Friends & Family.” Apart from “Park Chae-Young,” Rosé’s voice is also featured in two other songs, namely “St. Augustine” and “Sniper Training.”
Frontman Monty Macalino has previously talked about being a huge fan of the Kpop girl group and even performed an acoustic cover of his favorite Blackpink song “Really.”
