On Campus: Benildeans Talk About their College Must-Haves

Photos and Words by Aera Delos Santos

One of the biggest struggles in college life is trying to be prepared and organized. (Trust me, I would know.) We all deal with different endeavors but going through those is how we come up with solutions. With my years in college I have realized that together with our ever-ready attitude, our bags should also be up for whatever challenge comes our way.

Here, I listed down some of the things that keep my college game on-point and organized.

My laptop, notebook, a highlighter, pens, and my phone. These are some of the most basic and essential things I bring to class every day. These are my basic note-taking tools. I was really lazy in note-taking (but c’mon who isn’t, right?) but I realized later on that writing down notes is really important in college and is totally worth the effort! Taking down notes helps the mind concentrate and helps us understand the text even further.

A planner, ALARMS, and a wristwatch. At first, I thought planners were an unnecessary luxury, but with all the plates, projects, exams and basically all the hecticness of college, it became a necessity for me. Planners keep track of our responsibilities and make us enjoy the feeling of completion at the end of the week.

To all my fellow heavy sleepers out there, alarms are your best friends in life. I would advise a good alarm app like Alarmy perhaps, and if that doesn’t work, a real alarm clock with obnoxious loud bells like the one I have would do the trick!

As a Multimedia arts Student, investing on good brushes for traditional art and investing in a good pen tablet for digital art was a really good move.

Lastly, college may be a struggle but I would always make time to fix my kikay little self. A good highlighter (I use the ABH Glow kit in That Glow) to keep the face glowing and some dark lipstick (Kylie Liquid Lip kit in Leo) are my little saviors whenever I’m feeling a little dull. Because, let’s face it, college can be really draining.

I also asked some of my peers what their college must-haves are and here’s what they said!

Being organized is a huge help in college. I learned that the hard way. And I hope that this would inspire some of my fellow students to try to be organized and try to reevaluate our college must-haves. We got this, guys! ????
