NSYC 2018: Exploring the Depths of the Seas (The Youth for Marine Conservation)

NSYC 2018 OFFICIAL POSTER2

This February, UP Alliance of Chemical Engineering Students (UP AChES) is launching its annual inter-high school event, The National Science and Youth Congress (NSYC), for another series of thought-provoking and ingenious activities and contests for today’s young and innovative minds.

The event is geared towards an upbeat approach to science-based issues that emanate in the country today. Main events include a quiz contest “Mental Smackdown,” a symposium “Syntegrate” and a science fair “Youth Greenovation.” This year’s illustrious event will be focusing on marine life consciousness, bearing the theme “Exploring the Depths of the Seas: The Youth for Marine Conservation.”

The quiz contest “Mental Smackdown” aims to host a healthy, competitive setting to challenge the youth’s knowledge on environmental issues, this year featuring marine life, besides the different fields of sciences including mathematics, biology, physics, and the like.

“Syntegrate” features speakers shedding light on the current situation of Philippine waters, its ecosystems, and the alternatives and solutions leading to the protection and preservation of ecosystems in oceans and seas.

Side events after the symposium include on-the-spot poster making, essay writing and impromptu speech contests, while other integrating activities are arranged for non-competing participants to ensure they could apply lessons learned from the symposium.

“Youth Greenovation” is divided into two categories on “Green Life” and “Green Technology.” It is an inter-high school science fair open to junior and senior high school students.

Don’t miss your chance to take part in the National Science and Youth Congress (NSYC) 2018 and win awesome prizes, happening on February 10 (Saturday), from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
