It’s been 20 years since the first Chicken Run hit movie theaters so a sequel might really be due.
The stop-motion animated comedy was released in 2000. The story revolved around the lives of a group of chickens trying to escape a farm before their owners turn them into chicken pies. They find hope for their escape plan in a rooster named Rocky.
In 2018, a sequel was announced with the working title Chicken Run 2.
Two years later, on June 23, 2020, in celebration of the movie’s 20th anniversary, it was announced that Netflix obtained the rights to the sequel.
It was confirmed via a tweet:

British studio Aardman Animation, who produced the first movie, also confirmed this in a tweet.

The first Chicken Run earned $224 million in the box office, making it the top-grossing stop-motion animated film in history.
Will Chicken Run 2 beat that?
