Nike and Kobe Bryant Partnership Not to be Renewed

After the partnership expiration between Nike and Kobe Bryant, Vanessa Bryant and the Kobe Bryant estate had elected not to renew with the brand. This was confirmed to ESPN.

According to reports, the contract expired on April 13, 2021. “Kobe and Nike have made some of the most beautiful basketball shoes of all time, worn and adored by fans and athletes in all sports across the globe. It seems fitting that more NBA players wear my husband’s product than any other signature shoe”, said Vanessa Bryant.

According to Vanessa, she wants her late husband’s fans to get access to the products. “I will continue to fight for that. Kobe’s products sell out in seconds. That says everything”, she added.

Both the rights of the “Mamba” logo and his signature belong to Kobe Bryant estate while the “sheath” logo that is usually featured on Kobe shoes are mutually owned by the athlete and the brand.

Though all future releases of Kobe branded apparel and footwear is on hold, the Kobe Bryan estate can discuss and negotiate with other brands for new partnerships.
