Nickelodeon Launches Avatar Studios to Create New “Avatar” Content

Avatar fans, are you freaking out? Because I am!

Nickelodeon has officially launched a new studio based entirely on its iconic cartoon, “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” and its sequel, “The Legend of Korra,” for the purpose of creating new “original content spanning animated series and movies” to expand the “Avatar” world!

The original creators of the two shows, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, will be joining Nickelodeon as co-chief creative officers of Avatar Studios. Nothing much has been revealed yet about their plans, other than the fact that their first project is going to be a new animated show that’s already set to begin production soon!

It will debut on the company’s streaming platform with ViacomCBS, Paramount Plus.

“Avatar: The Last Airbender” premiered in 2005 and aired for three seasons. It garnered multiple awards during its three-year run, including Annie Awards, Genesis Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award.

‘The Legend of Korra” then aired in 2012 and ran for four seasons.
