At the young age of 22, Moroccan stunner ABIR recently concluded her set of shows in Los Angeles, opening for fellow Atlantic Records artist Kiiara.
Born in New York City, ABIR (born: Abir Haronni) has been slowly but surely paving her way into the music industry by releasing songs with distinct sounds that match her killer vocals. She also already has some killer collaborations under her belt: “Waves” with Masego and “Fallin” (with Illmind, who has notably worked with Drake and Kanye West).
I was fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to shoot for her during one of her L.A. stops and I was instantly captivated by her stage presence during the intimate and sold out show. Dressed in an all white off-shoulder coordinate outfit, she took the stage with her guitarist and instantly took my breathe away with her amazing vocals.
ABIR is not entirely new to the music industry. She first made her debut on The Young OG Project and has since gotten the support of Zane Lowe and even Beats by Dre. The singer labels her music style as soulful funk, which is true because her music is a mix of funky beats and her smooth soulful voice.
Her EP Mint was highly anticipated before its release and it did not disappoint. The 6-track EP is filled with songs written by ABIR herself that songs talk about everything from love to her hometown.
ABIR is definitely one of the upcoming artists to watch this coming 2019. Mint is available on all streaming platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Music.
