A Whisker Away (Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu or Wanting to Cry, I Pretend to Be a Cat) will be premiering on Netflix globally this June 18.

The film follows Miyo ‘Muge’ Sasaki, a junior high student who has fallen in love with her classmate Kento Hinode.
The love story takes a turn as Muge discovers a magic mask that gives her the ability to turn into a cat. She uses this ability to become close to Kento but encounters problems when the lines between human and animal begin to blur.
It is co-directed by Junichi Sato and Tomotaka Shibayama with the screenplay written by Mari Okada. Sato is best known for his work in the magical girl genre, especially for the first 2 seasons of Sailor Moon. While Okada’s previous works include Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms and Anohana.
