Beloved browser game Neopets is truly making a huge comeback within the next year, much to the delight of 90s kids everywhere. We first reported that an animated television series about Neopets is in the works. Now, a mobile game is coming and might be dropping sometime soon!
According to GameByte, the team behind Neopets confirmed that they are about to enter beta testing for a mobile-friendly version of the browser game in the next couple of months.
“We have many exciting projects in the Neopian universe right now, one of the most anticipated of course is the mobile version of the site,” Neopets spokesperson, Stephanie Lord, told GameByte.
“As everyone is aware, flash is quickly going away so our first goal is to make the existing site completely functional and user friendly on mobile devices. This not only includes converting all flash features to another format, but also redesigning large parts of the site to make it more immersive and modern while improving user experience.”
She added that they are planning to roll out the mobile game “in phases,” focusing first on allowing users to care for, interact with, and customize their pets as well as play the classic mini-games. They shared that they will expand from there.
She didn’t give any details on when we can expect the mobile game to come out, however.
“It has taken longer than expected but we wanted to make sure we give our users the best product we can and make sure we don’t rush anything or limit the quality,” she added.
