National Pharmacy Week Celebrates with Annual Debate and Patient Counseling Competitions

The Federation of the Junior Chapters of the Philippine Pharmacists Association presents the annual National Debate Competition and the National Patient Counseling to be held at the University of Santo Tomas on December 6, 2017. The two interschool competitions, which is done in celebration of the National Pharmacy Week, invite students to showcase their knowledge on the current issues about the Pharmacy profession as well as their skills in patient counseling.

 The National Debate Competition, also known as Debacle, will be done through British Parliamentary format and requires one team representative per school with two members each. The motions to be discussed will be surrounding the current Pharmacy practice and the timely issues regarding the profession. There will be two rounds leading to the finals where the top four teams will win certificates of recognition as well as cash prizes amounting to Php 2000, Php 1500, Php 1000 and Php 500 in order of placing.

On the other hand, the National Patient Counseling will test the contestants’ knowledge, skills and resourcefulness through a live simulation of a patient case presentation and counseling. The contest will be based on Young Pharmacists’ Group Philippines mechanics and requires one representative per school. There will be an elimination round preceding the finals; contestants can win Php 3,000, Php 2,000 and Php 1,000 cash prizes and certificates of recognition for the champion, first and second runner-ups.
