According to the World Health Organization, Cervical Cancer is the 2nd, most common type of cancer in the Philippines for women between 15 to 44 years old. The number of women who are affected worldwide can rise up to 700,000 by 2030.
Raquel Tugade, is also a victim of this disease.
She was diagnosed with Stage 1B Cervical Cancer just this January. She started experiencing symptoms months before the doctors found out.
She was wrenched, as any person will be. Her youngest child is only 6 years old and for every mother, the thought of leaving your children is the worst thing imaginable. This too, of course, will make any parent fight with everything she has.
Raquel is impressively keeping a positive attitude despite the situation. She’s already started a series of chemotherapy and radiation sessions. The side effects are physically grueling and, of course, financially challenging. A chemotherapy costs P18,000 to P20,000 per session, and she has a long way to go.
