For 40 years, the UPLB Statistical Society (STATS), a duly recognized academic organization in the University of the Philippines Los Baños, has committed itself to the pursuit of academic and professional excellence. The organization continues to work towards its goal of advancing and promoting proper application of statistics in all fields of learning endeavors. Though an academic organization, UPLB STATS does not set its limit in developing academic excellence among its members but also in promoting awareness among the youth nationwide. In recognition of its outstanding efforts and exemplary dedication to the successful conduct of various statistical advocacy activities for the youth, UPLB STATS was awarded as the Best Youth Advocate for Statistics during the 27th and 28th National Statistics Month.
ESTADISTIKA is an annual, invitational statistics quiz, poster-making, essay- writing, and photo contest. However, due to the pandemic, the organization opted to re-invent the said activity and make an ESTADISTIKA Special Edition—with the same aim to introduce the proper application of statistics in various disciplines, and to promote intellectual growth in statistics nationwide.
In its 15th year, high school and college students nationwide are invited to participate in Mulat 2021: A Nationwide ESTADISTIKA Special Edition for Essay Writing and Vlog Making Contests. The vlog making contest will officially start on 15th of March 2021 while the essay writing contest will start on 22nd of March 2021, with the theme “SustainAbility: Highlighting the Role of Environment Statistics in Building our Country’s Future”.
Essay writing contest is divided into two divisions (high school and college). For high school division, the contest is open to all Grades 9-12, and for college division, the contest is open to all undergraduate students. Meanwhile, vlog making contest is open to Grade 11 senior high school to undergraduate college students.
All participants for Mulat 2021 must be currently enrolled this Academic Year 2020-2021. Moreover, both contests have NO REGISTRATION FEE.
For each division in the essay writing contest, the participants have a chance to win Php 2,500.
00 for first place, Php 1,500.00 for second place, and Php 1,000.00 for third place. On the other hand, participating teams in the vlog making contests have the opportunity to win as much as Php 6,000.00 for the grand prize, Php 3,000.00 for the first runner up, and Php 1,000.00 for being the most liked video on ESTADISTIKA’s Facebook page.
MULAT 2021 officially launches today, Feb 14, 2021 and the registration period for the contests starts tomorrow, Feb 15 at 10am. Registration links are provided down below, which will be open starting from Feb 15, 10am until March 14, 12nn ONLY.
