To uphold its goal of promoting the field of materials science and engineering, the University of the Philippines Materials Science Society has been conducting the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Summit since 2014. It is the country’s premier gathering of students, professionals, and enthusiasts where attendees can exhibit the different innovations in the field, exchange ideas about their expertise, and inspire others to tread a similar path.
Now on its seventh year, the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Summit 2021, with the theme “MatEnvision: Reimagining Materials Science and Engineering in the New Normal,” aims to highlight Filipino innovators and innovations that have made a significant impact in the time of a global pandemic. The MSE Summit 2021 will hold four events: MSE Symposium, Research Fair, Materials Case Quest, and Poster Making Competition. The MSE Symposium is a series of talks by esteemed individuals and companies in the field.
The Research Fair is a competition where high school students will showcase various scientific works and research projects that relate to MSE. The Materials Case Quest is an idea competition where students will use their knowledge about MSE to solve a hypothetical case. Lastly, the Poster Making Competition is an avenue for artistic scientists to further promote the field through visual arts.
The MSE Symposium will be held via Zoom on April 10 and 17, while the finals round of the Research Fair and Materials Case Quest, as well as the awarding ceremonies of all events, will be on April 24. All the events will be live streamed on the Facebook page (Materials Science and Engineering Summit | Facebook) of the Materials Science and Engineering Summit and the YouTube channel (UP MSS – YouTube) of the UP Materials Science Society.
