American singer and songwriter Aaron Carter made an announcement on April 21 that his girlfriend, Melanie Martin, is pregnant with their first child.
Carter revealed that they are expecting in an Instagram Live session and with People too on the same day. Along with this, he showed what looked like a positive pregnancy test and said, “I’m going to be a busy father for sure.”
“This is the official announcement, we’re pregnant,” he added.
Later on, he told People that the pregnancy is something “[they] both want” and that he is “just focused on the future and being a dad.”
“I want to be a good dad,” Carter said. “I’m focused, my music career has been doing really well, and touring, having my clothing line out, all that stuff I have going for me that isn’t necessarily just music. Family is most important to me.”
This revelation follows weeks after Martin was arrested for domestic violence after scratching Carter during an argument, TMZ reported last month. However, Carter told People that charges against his partner have already been dropped and they are back in a relationship.
“We just realized that we love each other,” Carter was quoted as saying.
He first revealed they were dating in a now-deleted Instagram post last January.
Carter first came to fame as a pop and hip hop singer in the late 1990s, establishing himself as a star among pre-teen and teenage audiences during the first years of the 21st century with his four studio albums.
He is known for hit singles such as Crush on You, Crazy Little Party Girl, I’m Gonna Miss You Forever, and Surfin’ USA.
