Health officials clarify that while the number of PUMs is quite high, there has been no confirmed COVID-19 case in the province. The reason behind the surge of PUMs is due to the Pangasinense students returning home from Manila after the declaration of quarantine.

The provincial government required all arriving residents to be listed by their respective barangay chairman. They were advised to undergo home quarantine for 14 days and are being monitored by barangay health emergency response teams.

At least 16 of the PUMs have already completed the 14-day quarantine period, according to records from Pangasinan’s health office. There were a total of 11 Patients Under Investigation (PUIs) as of March 16, but 5 of them have already been discharged.
