MMDA: Christmas tiangges and night bazaars may be allowed

In an interview on Tuesday, October 20th, MMDA General Manager Jose Arturo “Jojo” Garcia said that Christmas bazaars like night tiangges and night bazaars may be allowed this coming holiday season. He said these types of sales may be allowed given that they properly coordinate with the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Iyong talagang mga sale, mga tiangge ‘no puwede pong payagan iyan, of course sa pakikipag-coordinate din sa DILG ‘no kasi kung may mga tiangge may mga kalsadang isasara, kailangan nating pag-aralan po maigi iyan,” he said.

Despite the possibility of allowing night bazaars and tiangges, they still don’t want people to celebrate elaborate Christmas parties. It’s still a no, he said, and explained that there are plenty of ways to celebrate Christmas without having to gather together.
