Avid fans of Miss Universe weren’t exactly happy with today’s pageant results, what with Steve Harvey mis-announcing the Best National Costume awardee, and Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados not making it past the Top 20.
Former Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa has spoken up on Instagram about it, as well, but in a different light: “People are starting to play the blaming game again, and easily neglected and put aside all the efforts and sacrifices that were poured into the whole preparation just to make them proud, fails to recognize that there’s way too many deserving winners for just one crown,” she says in the caption.
“Why can’t we celebrate this day?” she asks, reminding us: “This festivity is such a beautiful platform, it is where little girls dreams are made, women’s voices are heard, this is a great avenue to strengthen our own advocacy, we get to see women from all over the world showcasing different stories, culture and background, different hair and skin color, but at the end of it all they are all so beautiful, no one is above nobody, just equally amazing. What a beautiful day for the universe.”
She also raves about Gazini, saying, “Gaz, you fought for it, you fought hard! Garbo ka namong mga bisaya, ug garbo kas Pilipinas. Dili lalum ang pressure ug paningkamot nga gi hatag nimo para ani, labi na ang panagang sa mga dili mutuo na kaya ni nimo. You delivered! You gave them one heck of a fight, and we all saw that. We appreciate you. You looked so beautiful tonight. And we are so proud of you. As you said “no one should be ever left behind” we are one! Padayon rata sa pagsuporta sa Pilipinas. Ugma na nato tamparuson ang uban, hahaha chareng!”
