There is no doubt that cosmetics play a large part in the pageantry, but what does not come to the spotlight is how beauty queens look like without makeup.
Taking off your makeup in front of a friend might seem scary to ordinary people as you’re revealing what your bare face looks like, even more so, if done on national television where anyone will take a good look at you.
Gazini Ganados, Miss Universe Philippines 2019, has been recently criticized by bashers that she is mainly pretty because of the way her makeup is done. So, as the beauty queen from Talisay, Cebu was a guest on Tonight With Boy Abunda, she decided to remove her makeup on National TV.

Boy Abunda shared that some people have shared criticism like “Ay, hindi naman yan kagandahan si Gazini. Maganda lang yan dahil maganda ang makeup.”
(Rough translation: Gazini is not really pretty. She’s only pretty because the makeup on her is pretty.)
This critique prompted the recently crowned beauty queen to want to remove her makeup. She asked: “Gusto mo tanggalin natin?” (Rough translation: Do you want us to remove it?)
“Why not?” she added. Taking aback host Boy Abunda that she wanted to this in front of thousands of viewers on the spot where this clip may be rewatched as it is also recorded. Boy share with the Binibini, “Sa tinagal-tagal ko sa telebisyon,ย this is the first time that a beauty queen actually takes off her makeup in front of me on national television. What a girl!”
(Rough translation: For the longest time I’ve been here on television, this is the first time that a beauty queen actually takes off her makeup in front of me on national television.)
As the Filipino beauty exclaims confidence to her absolutely wanting to do this, Boy Abunda asks the audience if anybody had a makeup wipe with them. Surprise and excitement filled the well-known host where he praised the decision. “You’re brave!” he exclaimed.

Most of us are hoping for that back-to-back win, so I personally believe that Gazini’s confidence and willingness to learn is why we should share our love and support as she represents the Philippines for Miss Universe pageant.
Would you have the guts to take off your makeup on national TV too?
