Miss Trans Global Philippines Will Be Crowning its New Queen This Weekend

Pageant fans will have something to look forward to this weekend: Miss Trans Global Philippines will be crowning its new queen. The winner will represent the country and advocate for transgender rights in the Miss Trans Global 2021 pageant.

Twenty-five trans women will compete for the crown. This year’s finalists include:

  • Eda Catabas, Cebu

  • Jade Castrodes, Cebu
  • Jeffzel Rana, Nueva Vizcaya
  • Julia Andoque, Catbalogan, Samar
  • Kendra Pescos, Dipolog
  • Linzy Del Mar, Cebu
  • Llanie Lagarbe, Misamis Occidental
  • Macky Torechilla, Antique
  • Mickey Alonso, Paranaque
  • Mile Lugo, Bukidnon
  • Ming Torayno, Misamis Oriental
  • Noriel Gatan, Taguig
  • Olivia Hernandez, Iloilo

They will join a national costume portion, a transcending introduction, an evening gown section, a transcending campaign, and the final Q&A.

Meet the candidates here, as they introduce themselves for the recently-concluded Miss Trans Global Philippines Social Media Star Award.

The judge’s panel is comprised of “exemplar[s] in embodying their advocacies.” They are: Rain Villagonzalo, Super Sireyna 2007, first Queen of Cebu, and the newly-elected Executive Director of the Society of Transsexual Women in the Philippines (STRAP); Naomi Fontanos, the first trans co-coordinator of Task Force Pride (TFP) Philippine and the co-founder and Executive Director of Gender and Development Advocates (GANDA) Filipinas; Ronivin Pagtakhan, the co-founder and Executive Director of LoveYourself Inc.; Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa; and Miss World 2013 Megan Young.

To make the evening even more special, Asia’s Songbird and LGBTQ+ icon Regine Velasquez will be serenading viewers. There will also be a performance by the Addlib Divas.

Miss Trans Global Philippines aims to change the “patriarchal narrative of what pageants are — where beauty is diverse, inclusive and purposive.”

Miss Trans Global Pageant Night

Last year’s winner of Miss Trans Global is Mela Habijan, one of the Philippines’ four representatives. She is also recognized as the global pageant’s first-ever winner.

This year’s Miss Trans Global Philippines finale will be on June 6, 2021, 8PM at the Miss Trans Global Philippines Facebook page. The pageant will be hosted by Macoy Dubs and KaladKaren.

Miss Trans Global Philippines is presented by LoveYourself Inc, TRANScend by LoveYourself, and Spaces MNL.
