Military official urges Liza Soberano to withdraw her support for women’s group Gabriela

After Liza Soberano delivered an emotional, heartfelt talk during a webinar hosted by women’s group Gabriela, she met tons of backlash. Twitter trended with #BoycottLizaSoberano for speaking her mind and for opening up about how her heart went out to victims of abuse. Many came to her defense, saying that she did nothing wrong for weeping for women who have been abused.

Then, just over 20 hours ago, Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. made a statement on the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict’s Facebook page about Liza Soberano and also Catriona Gray. He warns them of their involvement and how they will “suffer the same fate” as those who have been killed like Josephine Anne Lapira, a 22-year-old UPM student who was also involved with Gabriela.

“Liza Soberano, there’s still a chance to abdicate that group. If you don’t, you will suffer the same fate as Josephine Anne Lapira,” Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. says in his Facebook post warning her and Catriona Gray of their ties to women’s support groups.
