Met Gala Postponed Indefinitely Due to COVID-19

The Met Gala, one of the biggest nights in fashion, has been indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue and chair of the Gala, announced last Monday that there will be no Met Gala taking place as scheduled.

Wintour writes in Vogue, “Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, About Time, and the opening night gala, will not take place on the date scheduled.”

This announcement comes after the news that the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York said that they will be temporarily closing their doors amid the outbreak.

This year’s Met Gala was set to happen on the 4th of May, with the theme About Time: Fashion and Duration. Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Emma Stone, and Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière were all to co-chair the said event.
