The world’s lone brown panda has turned into an overnight celebrity!
Qizai is the only brown panda in the world, and though he is experiencing this kind of adoration, life wasn’t always easy for this adorable bear.
Abandoned by his mother when he was just two months old, Qizai, whose name means “the seventh son”, was found as a weak cub at a nature reserve in the Qingling Mountains in Central China, and was immediately placed under the care of Foping Panda Valley.
Qizai’s mother had a black-and-white coat, which means that Qizai’s peculiar brown coat could be the result of genetic mutation.he brown cub’s had a good life since then, and now at 7 years old, has grown majestic. Chinese experts are now planning to find him a mate and observe its offspring, in order to learn more about the gene that causes brown fur in pandas.
