Medical students from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (UST-FMS) aren’t just known for their three C’s – Competence, Compassion, and Commitment toward the patients they serve and care, but also for their knack for showcasing their different God-given talents.
This year, UST-FMS invites you again to MEDWARDS 2018: The 8th Annual Interdepartmental Variety and Charity Show with the theme “Odyssey – An Epic Journey,” which shall commence on November 29, 2018, 6pm at the Medicine Auditorium of St. Martin de Porres Building, University of Santo Tomas, Manila.
For seven fruitful years, MEDWARDS has been the pioneer and premier instrument in bringing together the medical students, teaching and non-teaching staff in order to put up a show, and raise funds for the benefit of the patients in the Clinical Division of the UST Hospital.
Medical students from first year to fourth year shall again battle for supremacy and raise the banner of their respective Cluster based on the sections they belong – Cluster A, Cluster B, Cluster C, Cluster D. Cluster B, gunning this year for their 4-peat stint, dominated last year’s show bagging the most coveted Grand Champion title.
Different specialization departments and beneficiary wards are partnered with the four clusters.
Adding firepower to the talent-heavy groups, the teaching and non-teaching staff together with the consultants, fellows, residents, interns, and clinical clerks also join the competition. The presentations shall be in accordance with the theme this year and the students have been preparing for the upcoming MEDWARDS since the beginning of the Academic Year. The cluster winners and special individual awards shall be determined by distinguished judges and cash prizes will be given to their respective beneficiary wards – Medicine ward, Neurology ward, OB-Gyne ward, and Pediatrics ward.
MEDWARDS was founded by Dr. Jeff Willis A. Maniquis and together with Dr. Richardson B. Lorilla, Dr. Joyce Karla S. Suero, and Dr. Erika Lourdes M. Adajar, they launched the charity event in 2011. From there on, MEDWARDS kept on evolving, bringing bigger prizes, better performances, and making the medical community closer than ever before.
Come and join the Clusters this year as they embark on a wild odyssey where only the bravest and determined physician adventurers would reach their goal of reaching their precious destinations. Let the adventures begin!
