In a public announcement on Wednesday night, April 28, President Rodrigo Duterte announced the extension of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in the NCR Plus bubble. Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite will remain under MECQ until May 14, 2021.
The provinces of Abra and Quirino, as well as the city of Santiago, will also remain under MECQ.
The modified enhanced community quarantine of NCR Plus was supposed to end by April 30.
The president also announced that the following provinces will be under General Community Quarantine (GCQ):
- Apayao
- Baguio City
- Benguet
- Ifugao
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- Cagayan
- Isabela
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Batangas
- Quezon
- Tacloban
- Iligan City
- Davao City
- Lanao Del Sur
The rest of the country will be under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) with special attention to high-risk areas in Luzon, Region 6, and Region 9.
