Manila announces more drive-thru COVID-19 testing facilities

After the success of Manila’s first drive-thru COVID-19 testing facility, the local government unit has organized the opening of more drive-through facilities.

Mayor Isko Moreno made the announcement on Twitter this Saturday. According to Moreno, there will be 2 drive-thru testing facilities starting Monday, July 20.

The first will be at the Andres Bonifacio Monument (near Manila City Hall) Monday while the second will be set up at Quirino Grandstand. Both will be operating Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. All you need to bring is a valid ID.

Moreno earlier said during a briefing that the turnout of the first drive-thru testing facility showed that the public is willing to be tested as long as it is accessible.

Nagtraffic po talaga, pero ako iba po ang perspective ko.  That is a sign of a good problem, why?  Totoo pala na ang tao, gusto niyang magpatest but the problem is wala siyang access,” he said.

[It really caused heavy traffic, but I have a different perspective.  That is a sign of a good problem, why? It’s true that people do want to get tested but the problem is lack of access.]
