Massive facility in the north aims to increase testing capacity to 30,000 a day

Experts believe that regular, mass testing for the novel coronavirus is necessary to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Doing this is seen as a way to make sure that people are safe and can help restart economies all over the world.

Experts believe that if every person can be tested regularly, it would make a huge difference in how we fight this virus.

In lieu of this, a massive swab testing facility has been set up in the north.

The BCDA Group shared on Facebook that the facility is located at the Philippine Arena. They wrote:

NEW SWABBING CENTER NORTH OF MANILA. The Philippine Arena Complex in Bulacan has been set up as another mega swabbing center to serve areas in Bulacan and north of Metro Manila. This will help ramp up the country’s testing capacity to 30,000 tests per day by May 30.

The facility will be managed by the Bureau of Fire Protection. It has six swabbing tents, 96 testing booths and will be assisted by 400 volunteers from various government agencies.

The Philippine Red Cross, with the private sector, has greatly supported the Philippine government’s “Test, Trace, Treat” strategy. Daily tests conducted have already reached 11,127 as of May 15, up from 5,000 tests last May 2.

Key government officials and members of the Iglesia ni Cristo community inspected the facility today.
