Marahuyo: Mental Health Awareness Event is a mental health creativity fair open for medical and non-medical students which involve mental health talk, art and photography exhibit, art market and culminating performance night. Speakers, artists and performers are people who advocate mental health. For non-medical students, these are people with mental health needs to provide them an avenue to showcase their craft and support their therapy expenses. The proceeds from the event will go the future projects of Youth for Mental Health Coalition and to our chosen beneficiaries who have been self-medicating or having difficulties in supporting themselves because of financial incapabilities. There will be a screening process for choosing our recipients.
The event aims to promote mental health wellness through talks and creative practice, and to normalize the discussion of mental health by presenting it in a more modernized social contexts like artistic expression.
This will be held on August 26, 2018 at Virginia Sanchez Hall, Young Women Christian Association Manila, Ermita, Manila. Art market, art and photo exhibit and registration will start at 12 noon. Special speakers will also have their turns to talk in the event to raise awareness about mental health which will start by 3pm while the music and open mic performances will start from 5pm until 7pm.
