Mario Maurer fans: we have great news for you: the young actor will be joining the seventh season of Game of Thrones!
Well, sort of. Maurer won’t be joining the cast, but he will be lending his voice to Jon Snow, one of the key characters in the much-awaited series.
His voice will be used for the version that will be screened in Thailand.
Maurer will be joined by other well-known Thai celebrities, including actress-singer Nantida Kaewbuasai as Cersei Lannister, actress Namthip Jongrachatawiboon as Daenerys Targaryen, actor-singer Preeti Barameeanant as Tyrion Lannister, actress-model Ploychompoo Jannine Weigel as Arya Stark, and actress Pleng Chontida Asavahame as Sansa Stark.
Game of Thrones is HBO’s most-watched and longest-running series. When the sixth season closed, it was estimated that 25 million people watch the show. The story is set in the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, and follows different dynasties as they aim to succeed the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms.
Since the show premiered in 2011, it garnered a wide fanbase and widespread critical acclaim. In total, Game of Thrones has won 26 Emmy awards.
The seventh season is set to premiere on July 16, 2017.
