When it comes to birit-worthy songs, only one name comes to mind: Mariah Carey. Through the years, she has proven that her whistle register is one of the most phenomenal things to come to music and we’ve heard this in songs like “Emotions” and “Through the Rain.” And even if rumors have abounded that she can no longer reach those legendary notes, her Manila concert proves that she’s still the Songbird Supreme and has not lost the magical voice that has wowed us since her debut album in 1990.

Carey’s Manila concert is the sixth stop of her Number 1’s Tour, an Asia-exclusive concert series featuring her number one hits. Boy, she did not disappoint, bringing the songs that have made us fall in love with her, including “Fantasy,” “One Sweet Day,” “Heartbreaker,” and “Hero.” She also brought some of her newer hits like “We Belong Together,” “Touch My Body,” and “#Beautiful,” providing a diverse setlist from her wide repertoire of albums.

The Elusive Chanteuse has been hounded with rumors that she’s past her prime, citing some disastrous performances like the 2017 New Year’s Eve performance at New York City. She ultimately redeemed herself the following New Year’s Eve and in this concert. It’s true that some adjustments to the songs have been made, but she still sounded the way she did in the ’90s and hit the high notes whenever she needed to.

She also looked amazing, changing every interlude to a dress more glamorous than the last. She sounded amazing, she looked amazing, and she gave a performance that many Lambs (Carey fans) and non-Lambs will never forget. She has a new album coming out next month and we’re sure she’s going to sound just as good as when we first heard “Vision of Love” in 1990. After all these years, Carey is still a vision and a force to be reckoned with.
