It looks like the much-planned and much-talked-about live-action Barbie movie is finally going to happen. After years of announcements and failed plans, the movie rights have finally been acquired by Warner Brothers Pictures. Along with Mattel, they plan to bring Barbie to life through Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie.

There’s already quite a buzz about Warner Brother’s new project. Considering their success with “Paddington 2”, and the anticipated success of “Detective Pikachu”, there is a lot of trust being put into the studio to produce another considerable cartoon-turned-live-action.
Robbie is no stranger to breathing life into cartoons, either. Having originated the role of live-action Harley Quinn in the “Suicide Squad”, striking the right balance when portraying a cartoon character should be second nature to her by now.
In an interview with Variety.com, she had this to say on the subject: “Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity, and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery. Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president.
I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide. I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”
Do you think Margot Robbie suits the role of Barbie?
