Manhunt Ordered for Man Who Allegedly Defecated in Public in Intramuros

Local police have been ordered to catch the unidentified man who was allegedly caught publicly defecating at the Baluarte de Dilao, a historical landmark in Intramuros, said Manila City Public Information Office on Sunday, January 26.

The order was given by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno after photos of the man, suspected to be a foreign national, went viral on social media over the weekend. Mayor Isko has also spoken to the Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila Chief Charlie Duñgo to coordinate with the Intramuros administration regarding the incident.

Manila City PIO chief Julius Leonen, however, said that there has been no verified report of the incident and that they are still attempting to get in touch with the original poster of the photo. Intramuros Administration has also said that the site was found to be clean and without waste.

The original poster claimed that they were having an educational tour around the area when he caught the man allegedly defecating in a pot. “Checking from our view, may napansin po kaming nakaupo (we noticed someone sitting), then na-alarma na kami (we were alarmed) then I snapped photos,” he said.
