Last May 28, President Rodrigo Duterte announced a transition from the modified enhanced community quarantine to a general community quarantine in select parts of the country. As people question what effects this could have on our progress against COVID-19, Malacañang assures that Metro Manila is ready for more relaxed protocols.
“NCR is ready [based on] the data we’ve seen but that really depends on the cooperation of everyone,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
The data he referred to is the improvement of NCR’s case doubling rate and critical care capacity. However, he reminded the public that we must still adhere to health protocols in order to curb the continuing spread of COVID-19.
Roque also noted that we can only expect the number of cases to rise as long as a vaccine remains elusive.
