Maine Mendoza cried foul over being at the receiving end of “hate and personal attacks” directed at her husband, Arjo Atayde, who is accused of allegedly soliciting money from flood control projects.

On X, Maine stated that the allegations against her husband are “baseless.”
“Teka lang muna, those are baseless allegations. Please refrain from throwing hate and personal attacks at him, including me and our family until facts come out,” she wrote.
The actress sided with her husband, adding that the actor-politician has been only doing his “best to serve” his constituents in Quezon City.
“I am with my husband in this. Wala siyang ginagawang masama sa loob. He has been doing his best to serve the people of his district in Quezon City since the beginning,” she said
“I sincerely hope and pray that the people who are TRULY responsible will be held accountable and that innocent individuals be spared from this mess. Napaka unfair,” she added.
Arjo was among the politicians named by contractors Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II and Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya during the Senate Blue Ribbon committee hearing on September 8. Both contractors, who wanted to testify as state witnesses in a public infrastructure scandal, named these government figures who allegedly demanded commissions from them.
However, the 34-year-old congressman strongly denied any involvement in the allegations.

“Hindi totoo ang mga akusasyon na ito (The allegations are not true). I have never used my position for personal gain, and I never will,” he wrote in an Instagram story.
