Magnolia Ice cream reveals the Best of the Philippines
When in Manila, what better way to cool off in the intense heat than to have a scoop of drool-worthy ice cream?
Magnolia is the pioneering brand of Philippine ice cream. Since 1925, it has been producing sweet indulgences that relieve us from the hot and humid weather nowadays. Although there are a variety of flavors to choose from, Magnolia introduces a whole new collection of flavors that puts a twist to the native delicacies that we often take home to our loved ones.
In cooperation with the local governments, they proudly present “The Best of the Philippines” to promote tourists spots and local specialties, in line with the campaign “It’s more fun in the Philippines”.
Fortunately, I was invited to the press release and was able to get a free taste of these new flavors.
Laguna is famous for its hot springs but tourists and locals alike indulge in its tasty macapuno. “Macapuno Langka and Macapuno Banana boast of Laguna’s celebrated tasty macapuno, each fused with a fruity tropical flavor that’s just too good to resist”
If you’re a chocolate or coffee addict, you should know that Batangas is well-known for its extraordinary chocolate tablea and superb Barako coffee, which are featured in Coffee Crumble and Tsokolate Tablea.
“Ube Keso features Good Shepherd’s appetizing ube and an incredible cheesy flavor all fused into one lovely desert.”
And last but not the least, Mangoes & Cream boasts of the pride of Guimaras, home of the sweetest and best tasting mangoes around!
I must say among these six incredibly diet-ruining flavors, I’d pick Mangoes & cream any day. It’s so refreshing! The Laguna based flavors were very unique and intriguing. Who knew such combinations would be so perfect? Opening the tubs for the first time gave an aroma that was so difficult to resist. The sweet flavors from Batangas would be a hit to those who prefer traditional rather than tropical flavors. Coffee crumble was really good too! Oh, and Ube Keso converted me. I was never a fan of ube flavored ice cream or ube in general but when I was given the cup, I finished it before I even realized.
In stores, it would not be difficult to spot the new flavors of Magnolia because they come in colorful and attractive tubs that feature tourist spots and products of the said regions. For the price of P240 you will feel like you’ve traveled to Batangas, Laguna, Guimaras, and Baguio and would enjoy the best that each place has to offer.
But wait, there’s more! Aside from the new collection, two new products that are off to conquer the market were also revealed. The company behind the widely popular pinipig crunch has again put solid effort in satisfying the Filipino palette by producing a similar product that has chocolate all over it. Literally. Cookie Monster will do more than satisfy your chocolate craving. It is chocolate ice cream surrounding chocolate fudge with chocolate cereal balls drizzled chocolate coating. Heaven.
What makes it even more exciting is that it is endorsed by one of today’s hottest teen stars, Elmo Magalona, who performed a special number during the press release.
While the Magnolia leaders share a sense of pride in producing fresh and appealing new products, the same sentiments were shared by his mom, Pia Magalona, who was present in the event and was proudly supporting her son’s new endeavor.
Ever had a rootbeer float? The Magnolia Fizz is the newest ice cream variety from Magnolia, which combines rootbeer with vanilla ice cream that gives you the essence of the famous drink, compressed in a Popsicle stick.
When I got home from the event, I found my baby cousin having fun in the pool and gave her these treats. She enjoyed them a lot!
And because I had more than enough ice cream tubs to take home, I also enjoyed making these delicious Friday afternoon sundaes for my family with my The Best of the Philippines Magnolia ice cream.
When in Manila, don’t forget to drop by your favorite convenience store and treat yourself to the best that the Philippines has to offer! As Magnolia says, “Wag maging dayuhan sa sariling ice cream.”
