To help build an additional shelter for the elderlies of Luwalhati ng Maynila, Light for Luwalhati, in partnership with the UP Diliman Ultimate Organization (DUO), is hosting an Ultimate Frisbee Hat Tournament on the 25th of March, Saturday, 8 am-7pm at the UP Sunken Garden.
Luwalhati ng Maynila is a home for the aged that currently houses a population of 300 elderlies in the Boystown Complex of Parang, Marikina. Light for Luwalhati aims to improve the quality of life of these lolos and lolas, and at the same time provide them with a new home, hence the project’s tagline, “Let us guide you home.”
Since January of this year, the team has been working towards its goal of raising money to start the construction of the shelter. As its main fundraising project, the group has organized a whole-day Ultimate Frisbee Hat Tournament, which will comprise of a series of games that will engage experienced players and beginners alike. The tournament is open to all and everybody is encouraged to come and play for the benefit of the residents of the home for the aged.
