Netflix marked the end of Stranger Things with a behind-the-scenes documentary focused on how its fifth and final season came together. Titled One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, the documentary offers a closer look at the years of work behind the long-running series created by brothers Ross and Matt Duffer.

It follows the cast, creators, and crew as they complete the final chapter of the show, which first premiered in 2016.
According to Netflix, the documentary is meant to be a comprehensive chronicle of the production process, capturing both the scale of the project and the moments in between. It documents how the final season was made while also showing the team’s experience of wrapping up a show they’ve worked on for nearly a decade.
The project is directed by Emmy-winning cinematographer Martina Radwan, who spent a full year on set during the filming of Season 5. Radwan shared that being invited to document the final season was a unique opportunity.
She also noted that joining the show at this late stage meant stepping into a group that had been working closely together for years. According to Radwan, the cast and crew were open about their experiences and welcomed her into the process.
Radwan added that she wished she had been able to document earlier seasons as well, citing the Duffer brothers’ approach to filmmaking as something she found especially inspiring.
For the Duffers, the documentary draws inspiration from earlier behind-the-scenes films, including those made during the production of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. They shared that the idea was to give viewers a clearer picture of how a large-scale series like Stranger Things is made, from writing to production.
The documentary’s trailer includes footage from the final season’s production alongside interviews with the Duffers. One moment shows Matt Duffer reflecting on writing the final lines of the series, including the emotional impact of typing “End Series” for the first time. Clips from the final table read, where several cast members appear emotional, are also featured.
Set to David Bowie’s “Heroes,” the trailer also briefly touches on discussions surrounding the fate of key characters, including Eleven, though no outcomes are revealed.
One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 premiered on Netflix on January 12, 2026.
