Looks Like Manny Pacquiao Is Getting Back on the Boxing Ring This Year

Filipino boxing icon and incumbent Philippine senator Manny Pacquiao is set to get back on the boxing ring this year. This is according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum. He told ESPN that Pacquiao will fight again on November 5 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao announced his retirement after his fight against Timothy Bradley last April 9. He won that fight via unanimous decision. Yet, it is common among veteran boxers to have a change of heart and go back on the ring.

According to Michael Koncz, Arum and Pacquiao’s adviser, Pacquiao “decided to return, but only as long as he did not have to compromise his senate schedule in order to train.”

According to Arum, the top contenders for this upcoming Pacquiao match are welterweight titleholder Jessie Vargas, Terence Crawford (should he defeat Viktor Postol in their unification fight) or Viktor Postol (should he defeat Crawford).
