LOOK: Yes, There is a Sequel to Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank!

Eugene Domingo has a sterling filmography, but one of her crowning jewels is Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank, a comedy that followed an independent filmmaker who attempt to make a film for the glory of international recognition. It was an entry for the 2011 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, where it did so well that it won all five nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Eugene Domingo, Best Director for Marlon Rivera, Best Screenplay for Chris Martinez, and Audience Choice. It was even selected as the country’s entry to the Oscars for Best Foreign Film!

Now, the film that made everyone laugh in 2011 is returning, because Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank is now getting a sequel!

The sequel was first announced on June 20 through a Facebook post, but the shooting started earlier this month. According to its Facebook page:

Eugene Domingo is back as “Eugene Domingo” in this much-anticipated follow-up to the independent box-office hit movie, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank. Together with her director/writer (Rainier), her line producer (Jocelyn) and their rookie production assistant (Lennon), Eugene prepares for her comeback vehicle after a long sabbatical from moviemaking. Rainier proposes “The Itinerary,” a heartbreaking anatomy of a crumbling marriage as told through a couple’s trip to Baguio, their former honeymoon location. Eugene Domingo is excited by the project but she has other ideas in mind. In the film-within-the-film, we see Eugene’s absurd suggestions and recommendations — changing Rainier’s script by employing the poetics of the Pinoy romantic comedy genre into what is supposedly a realistic portrayal of love and marriage.

Kean Cipriano and Cai Cortez will return as Rainier and Jocelyn, and will be joined by Joel Torre, Jericho Rosales, Agot Isidro, Khalil Ramos, Hannah Ledesma, and Gui Adorno. It looks like JM de Guzman won’t be joining the cast. Marlon Rivera will return as director.
