A lot of times, rapper and shoe designer Kanye West is the hot topic among streetwear and sneaker enthusiasts. He continues to surprise us by setting trends like the pants-in-sock look, Maison Margiela masks, and of course, his own creation–the Yeezy. A few of his notable designs are the Yeezy Boost 350, the Powerphase, and the Waverunners. A lot of fans would do anything–even line up for hours— just to get their hands on a pair. He has become arguably one of the most talked-about shoe designers in this day and he continues to amaze (or sometimes dismay) sneakerheads.
One such shoe that caught the fans’ attention was the plain, elf-like boots he was seen wearing in public just a few weeks ago. The photograph, where Ye is caught wearing an oversized shirt and relaxed-fitting pants along with the said pair of boots, spread like wildfire and got mixed reactions from sneakerheads. While some fans didn’t think it would be released to the public, others have already given it a nickname and call it the ‘Scuba Boots’ because of how much it resembles a pair of diver’s footwear.
Fellow rapper 50 Cent even expressed his opinion on the other rapper’s choice of footwear. On one of his Instagram posts, he said:
“?welp now I know I’m not a style icon, ?I’m definitely not wearing that shit.”
Shortly after the controversial photograph, the so-called streetwear king was again seen wearing the ‘Scuba Boots’ in one of Lil Nas X’s Instagram posts. The two rappers just came from Kanye’s “Sunday Service” gospel performance and this time, he’s wearing a white version of the shoes.

Just a few hours ago, sneakerheads were treated to a closer look at the shoes from Highsnobiety. They even posted a few on-feet pictures so sneakerheads would have an idea on what to wear it with. Details about the shoes are yet to be confirmed and many fans are eager to learn more about it.
