LOOK: This Sweet Couple Celebrated Their 71st Year Anniversary

As lots of people have left the world during the time of Adolf Hitler, there are still a few who have really found love in a hopeless place.

It was in 1945 when the Anglo-American and Soviet troops proceeded to concentration camps, then stumbling upon a huge pile of corpses – with some reduced to ashes and bones. It is definite that the Holocaust indeed ruined society. It revealed the true horrors of what humankind is capable of.

Just like when young John Mackay, a part of Scottish commando unit, rescued 20-year-old Edith Steiner from Auschwitz in 1944. And after that, during the ball to celebrate the liberation from the Nazis, John asked a friend to invite Edith for a dance, with the latter telling their common acquaintance that she only would accept invitations from Mackay.

John Mackay and Edith Steiner got married on the 17th of July 1946. Edith bore two children named Sharon and Peter.

And even though Edith has already left the world after they celebrated their 71st Valentine’s Day together, the legacy of their love would still remain.

Indeed, there’s forever in love when both are compassionate.
