LOOK This is What Manila Looks Like From Outer Space

It’s easy to feel small when you’re in the big city, but we never really consider how small we are if you look at it from an outer space perspective. But that’s what Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield did, when he posted a series of photos of cities from the International Space Station (ISS) in 2012. One of the cities he captured was Manila.

The photo is old, but are re-surfacing online after American astronaut Scott Kelly recently returned from a year-long mission to the ISS.

Hadfield posted the photo on Twitter on March 5, 2013, and shows a brightly-lit metropolis with major roads snaking through it. The tweet was captioned with: “Tonight’s Finale: At long last – Manila, capital of the Philippines, delicately shining in the night.”

Hadfield is known as “”perhaps the most social media savvy astronaut ever to leave Earth,” according to Forbes, because of his large online following. His Reddit AMA thread is one of the most popular in the website. He has a music album, and his cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” has 31 million views.
