As the social media capital of the world, we’ve got texting down pat. But it’s interesting to note that the way we text is not the way the world texts. In some other part of the world, people are texting in a different way. While it would be hard to determine what other nationalities call “text speak,” someone compiled the different ways we “laugh” through messages. It turns out “haha” is not the standard text laugh.
It’s also worth noting that Filipinos have different laughs in text messages, too. We say “haha” when something is funny (the more “ha’s,”the funnier), “hehe” when we’re being naughty, “hihi” when we’re being pa-cute, and “hoho” if we’re Santa Claus.
