LOOK: This is Catriona Gray’s third Miss Universe gown

Catriona Gray Third Gown miss universe

Catriona Gray may have made history for being our fourth Miss Universe, but she has also made waves for her stunning looks. We’ve already seen the Adarna gown during the preliminary competition and the now iconic Mayon-inspired dress on coronation night, but now the photos of the third gown are spreading online. And just like the frocks we saw on the pageant, this third gown is also inspired by the Philippines.

Take a look below:

The third gown is inspired by the national gem, the pearl.

According to designer Mak Tumang, who also designed the other gowns: “Pearl of the Orient Seas is the byname given to our beautiful country, the Philippines. Even our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal referred the country with this sobriquet in his poem: Mi último adiós. Aside from the fact that our country is one of the largest producers of pearls, the Philippines is truly a gem! It is beautiful, enchanting and captivating. Indeed a high value and rare pearl!”

So what happened and we didn’t see this gorgeous creation? Tumang told ABS-CBN that the pearl-inspired gown was supposed to be worn by Gray during the Thai night during the prelimination period. However, she wore a dress made by a Thai designer, after a runway show featuring silk used by local designers.
