LOOK: This Gorgeous Airbnb Offers a Serene Escape from the City

With all the noise, stresses, and pollution of the city, it’s always nice to have a moment to escape and recharge. But with travel limitations, it’s not as easy to get away for some peace and quiet unless you find the perfect spot in the perfect location.

For us, that’s Silungan, a hidden vacation home rental located just an hour and a half away from Metro Manila.

Silungan was a family home constructed in 2000, mainly for the Velmonte family to have a rest house where their father can recuperate and heal. Decades after enjoying the peacefulness of the home, they decided to open it up in 2019 for the public to enjoy as well.

Silungan is nestled up a small road in Morong, Rizal. You’ll be greeted by lush greenery once you step inside their gate. The actual house rests among the tall trees that they themselves planted decades ago.

The gorgeous house is exactly what the word “maaliwalas” looks like. Each side of the house either has a glass wall or massive windows that open. Even if you’re inside the house, you can still enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature everywhere you look.

“It was designed so that you can sit anywhere and still be able to see other parts of the house,” shares Matt Velmonte with WhenInManila.com. “We wanted a place where there would be plenty of conversations between family and friends. The huge windows, high ceilings, and the light airy feel of the place fosters great appreciation of the beauty of nature.”

That’s exactly what happens with the intentional layout and beautiful design of the house.

The living room is massive. The walls are also made out of glass, as well as parts of the ceiling to give you a view of the stars at night. There are two daybeds in the living room that’s just perfect for lounging around.

There are two bedrooms that can each accommodate 2 people. Each of the rooms also has access to a small veranda where you can just sit and enjoy the view of their beautiful land.

If you’re coming in a bigger group, not to worry because the loft has six single beds.

Silungan can easily accommodate 10 people at a time, with more than enough space to spare. Guests are also welcome to use their fully equipped kitchen.

What we truly loved about Silungan is the peace and quiet it offers. With wide-open windows, you can also enjoy the continuous flow of fresh air from all around. If you sit outside, you can even hear the bamboos swaying around in the wind—the best kind of background noise.

The house is also surrounded by lots of fruit-bearing trees and vegetables. You can even spot some coffee plants right outside!

A stay in Silungan will give you that much-needed retreat from the busy city life. It’s also a huge bonus that it’s just over an hour away from the city. It’s actually still very accessible even if the house feels so secluded. It’s only a few hundred meters away from the main road, so you can still find stores if ever you forgot a few items.

After just a day in Silungan, we instantly felt well-rested and ready to take on the world again. So, if you’re looking for that refreshing escape to reenergize your mind, body, and soul, Silungan is definitely the place to go.
