Modern day society dictates that men rule the world, but women around the world continue to fight for equality and empowerment.
And I’m all about women empowerment—this clothing brand is, too.
Milkshake believes in the power of girls setting a safe and unified space through fashion, and in girls supporting girls, because who else will other than ourselves?
Starting as an initiative to ‘create a fashion line accessible to the young generation,’ Milkshake drew their inspiration for their fashion pieces from brunches, get-togethers, lunch hangouts, and conversations over drinks with girlfriends. And in our society today, where females are being downplayed and are discriminated, Milkshake promotes the idea of being an avenue of expression through clothes and colors, and their powerful message was reinforced through their brand launch last Saturday, August 24, at SM North Edsa.
In collaboration with One Music PH, Milkshake’s brand launch boosted girls’ confidence and promoted friendship and talents with performances featuring Sue Ramirez and Vivoree Esclito. With Instagrammble booths, live wall art from Filipina artist Soleil Ignacio, stickers to share, and a stall full of their clothing line, the brand engaged the audience in various activities.
One is a mix n’ match game—two pairs of best friends styled each other with Milkshake’s fashion pieces—truly best friend goals with their matching outfits; and a trivia game that the most of the audience participated in.
Of course, but the highlight of the event was the fashion runway of their newest collection—dresses, jumpsuits, blouses, shorts, skirts, you name it, Milkshake has them in shades of pink, red, maroon, and white.
The Korean streetwear-inspired brand is all about encouraging girls (and girls at heart) to express themselves with as much freedom and safety that they can find within their outfits.

As a woman myself, Milkshake’s message is incredibly powerful—that girls are powerful, most especially if we support each other.
