LOOK: This Cartoon Town Will Be The Cutest Destination On Your Travel Bucketlist

Much like Taiwan’s famous Rainbow Village in the Nantung District, this village in the Siaying District was revitalized through the help of imaginative murals.

This neighborhood in Weiming Street, Taiwan is known to many for its colorful representations of beloved cartoon characters with a special focus on Winnie the Pooh.

According to the Taipei Times, the transformation of the town from tired to energized began with the project of a group of 20-something-year-olds. Some friends had gotten together to paint a few of their favorite characters onto one of their grandparents’ homes. The finished project featuring characters like Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story’s Lots-O-Huggin’ Bear, and different Taoist deities got so much positive attention they thought of extending the one-time project.

Visitors from all over Taipei went to their town just to see the mural and this is where the group realized that they could use it to increase the town’s popularity. Chen Chien-yu, who initiated the idea, shared with Taipei Times

Siaying is a nice place to live. It only lacks young people around to give the place more color and energy. Seeing the success of this project, neighbors in the area said they are also willing to allow us to paint on the exterior walls of their houses. With this encouragement, we will keep on painting these murals, which will help promote Siaying to the outside world.
