LOOK: This barangay found scary strategy to keep residents home

The authorities from Barangay Divino in Catanduanes found a scary strategy to keep residents at home while the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine is implemented.

Barangay Chairman Sammy Dela Cruz ordered barangay tanods to dress in grim reaper costumes to discourage residents from going out especially during curfew hours. Along with dressing up, horror sound effects are played on the barangay’s speaker system.

Dela Cruz said that this strategy was a risky measure because it could backfire and cause a negative impact among residents.

However, he rationalized if other barangays can display caskets bearing signs of “Stay at Home, or Stay Inside”, then he thought having his tanods wear grim reaper costumes won’t be too bad.

Additionally, Dela Cruz said that they are giving 3 kgs of rice to the most disciplined home.

President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine in a desperate bid to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
